$3.5 Million Settlement in a Medical Malpractice Case 

Jeff Catalano and Gisela DaSilva recently settled a medical malpractice case for $3.5 million.  This was an action concerning the death of an elderly woman following her admission to a rehabilitation facility after surgery for a brain aneurysm. The plaintiff alleged that the defendants rehab facility and pharmacy failed to ensure timely delivery and administration of medication intended to prevent blood clots, which the plaintiff alleged caused her to suffer a deadly stroke. The defendants denied responsibility for the matters alleged and disputed the effectiveness of the medication in preventing the outcome.
