The Massachusetts Department of Industrial Accidents, also known as the DIA, administers everything related to Workers’ Comp law in MA, with 26 judges covering claims.
The DIA is responsible for resolving disputes, ensuring employers carry workers’ comp insurance and acting as the hub for injured workers, employers, attorneys and insurance companies.
If you’ve been injured at work, filed or need to file a claim, or received a notice in the mail, we highly recommend contacting an attorney to help you navigate the process. There’s no cost to discuss your claim with a workers’ comp attorney, and if you decide to have legal representation, there is no cost to you unless you win your case.
Some key things to know about the DIA:
- There are five locations throughout Massachusetts to cover injured workers throughout the state:
- Boston
- Springfield
- Lawrence
- Worcester
- Fall River
- There are about 100 forms related to MA workers’ compensation. Not all are required for every situation but talking to an attorney about what you should and should not sign (Form 105 for example) can help you avoid some headaches.
