Keches Law Group obtained a $2,150,000 settlement for an ironworker who was disabled following a dangerous fall down an elevator shaft.
A 45-year-old ironworker who was with the Union for 16 years was injured on the job after experiencing a dangerous fall down an elevator shaft. The plaintiff was found unconscious and suffered a laceration on the back of his skull. The injured worker had several fractures and lacerations and was put into a full-body cast. The employee became disabled on September 19, 2013.
The insurer paid the injured worker temporary total incapacity compensation. On top of this, the insurer covered all medical costs until June 23, 2015. On September 9, 2015, the insurer was ordered to pay the plaintiff permanent total incapacity benefits.
After reviewing the plaintiff’s life expectancy, the total settlement for the case came out to $2.15 million. Any future medical treatment that is necessary and related to the injury sustained will be covered by the insurer.
