Attorney Jeffrey Catalano assisted in obtaining a $1,750,000 settlement for a 46-year-old woman struck and killed by a vehicle while jogging during daylight.
A 46-year-old woman was struck and killed by a vehicle while jogging during daylight. The driver left the accident scene without stopping to assist or call 911.
A police investigation ultimately concluded that a vehicle owned by the defendant’s boyfriend struck the decedent. However, there were no witnesses, and the defendant driver denied operating the vehicle at the time of the accident. Even though a video camera from a nearby business showed the vehicle shortly before the accident occurred, the footage did not identify the driver.
The civil case settled for the policy limits the same day the defendant was served with the complaint without discovery.
The decedent, who led an active and fully engaged lifestyle, was survived by her husband and two teenage sons.
