FALL RIVER, MA – Keches Law Group is representing several families of the victims who were killed or injured in the devastating fire at Gabriel House Assisted Living in Fall River on the evening of July 13, 2025. This tragic event, one of the deadliest fires in Massachusetts’ recent history, claimed the lives of nine residents and hospitalized dozens more, many of whom were elderly and medically vulnerable.
“We have heard heartbreaking stories from our clients. Stories of loved ones trapped in their rooms, unable to escape” said Keches Law attorney Joseph Ferreira, who has deep roots in the Fall River community. “I grew up here, and still live nearby. These families, and our community, need answers and accountability. In addition, we are working with the legislative branches and other government agencies to ensure regulations get put in place to avoid this from ever happening again.”
Keches Law Group has launched a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire, including potential negligence by the facility’s management, emergency preparedness failures, and prior safety violations. The firm is also examining the adequacy of staffing, fire alarm and suppression systems, and the facility’s response to the crisis.
“Our hearts are with every family impacted by this unimaginable loss,” said managing partner Sean Flaherty. “We are committed to uncovering the truth, holding all responsible parties accountable, and ensuring that those affected receive the justice and support they deserve.”
The firm encourages any residents, staff, or family members with information about the events leading up to or during the fire to come forward. Keches Law Group is offering free consultations to any affected individuals and families.
