Taunton is a city located in Bristol County, Massachusetts. It is situated about 35 miles south of Boston and covers an area of approximately 48 square miles. Taunton was first settled by Europeans in the 1630s and was incorporated as a town in 1639. The city was a center of manufacturing during the 19th and early 20th centuries. The Silver City Galleria, a large shopping mall that attracted visitors from throughout the region, was demolished in 2021.
