Individuals who are disabled, blind, or elderly and are receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits, will automatically receive the $1,200 stimulus check if he or she did not file a 2018 or 2019 tax return. If a person did file a tax return for 2018 and 2019, then the amount he or she will receive will be based on the information within their tax filings.
Non-filers who receive SSI benefits, and have children who are 16 years old or younger, can obtain an extra $500 per child added to their stimulus check. The deadline to do so is May 5.
How to Obtain the Additional Stimulus Payment
If you are someone who qualifies for the additional stimulus payment, use the IRS’s “Non-Filers: Enter Your Payment Info Here.” Use this link to send the IRS your information regarding any dependent children. Again, make sure to do so before the deadline (May 5) in order to receive the extra $500 per child.
