Keches Law Group Managing Partner Sean Flaherty and other corporate partners celebrate the groundbreaking of a new Old Colony Habitat for Humanity home build in Norton, Massachusetts.

June 2, 2023 //  by Keches Law

Keches Law Group leaders were on hand to help celebrate the Habitat for Humanity groundbreaking of 16 Ridge Road in Norton on Thursday, June 1.

“We are so lucky at Keches Law Group to help such a tremendous organization,” Managing Partner Sean Flaherty said. “We look forward to a continuing partnership with this amazing program.”

The project, set to pour foundation in about six weeks, will be built entirely by volunteers and will cost $300,000. Old Colony Habitat for Humanity CEO Kim Thomas says there have been many donations made already, but more are needed.

“We hope this becomes a valuable asset to the community and we have a great family move in,” Thomas said.

When Habitat for Humanity selects homeowners, Thomas said they will work alongside volunteers.

Training and Development Manager Dan Sheedy, who is a Norton resident and School Committee member, was instrumental in getting Keches involved with the project.

“It’s an organization I’ve worked with in the past, so I reached out for a volunteer opportunity for the firm,” he said. “Kim has been very gracious in accepting us as a partner, and it’s great that we can help give back to a family that needs assistance.”

U.S. Rep. Jake Auchincloss (D-MA) also attended the groundbreaking ceremony, along with State Sen. Paul R. Feeney (D-Bristol and Norfolk) and State Reps. F. Jay Barrows (R-1st Bristol) and Steven S. Howitt (R-4th Bristol).

“Affordable housing and the cost of housing are the biggest problems we are facing right now,” Auchincloss said. “We need the community to come together so every family can build a life here.”

Feeney said the potential to help was on display at the site.

“The four walls you are going to provide will be four walls with hope inside, four walls with opportunity inside,” he said.

Keches Law Group has a long history of community involvement and charitable causes through the firm’s non-profit organization Keches Cares.

Stay tuned to follow progress on the build! We’re proud to be contributing to such an important cause that betters our community.
