A 51-year-old plaintiff worked as a nurse for about 20 years. In March of 2015, the plaintiff was attempting to move a patient to place a pillow under their head. The plaintiff experienced a burning sensation in her neck which traveled into her arms. She was taken out of work due to the pain.
The plaintiff had a prior work injury back in 2000 under the same employer. This injury resulted in a L4-L5 discectomy and laminectomy. In 2004 the plaintiff had a L4-5-disc replacement but her neck pain continued when she finally returned to work. It wasn’t until 2014 when she had a cervical fusion from C4-C7.
The case settled for $500,000.
