A combined settlement for a Local 11 stagehand who had sustained an injury to the left hand, left shoulder, and lower back. The employee was using a come-along, or a power puller – a tool that uses a ratchet and winch system to pull and lift heavy objects – when the equipment malfunctioned, pulling the left arm into the mechanism and respectively crushing the left hand of the plaintiff. Along with the most critical injury sustained to the hand, the plaintiff injured the shoulder and lower back enough to need surgical intervention on both body parts. Unfortunately, despite multiple surgeries, there were permanent impairments.
