De acordo com a OSHA, as quedas s\u00e3o a principal causa de morte em canteiros de obras.<\/a> Em 2010 houve 774 acidentes fatais relacionados ao local da constru\u00e7\u00e3o, dos quais 264, aproximadamente um ter\u00e7o, resultaram de quedas. De acordo com a Lei de Seguran\u00e7a e Sa\u00fade Ocupacional de 1970, os empregadores s\u00e3o respons\u00e1veis por proporcionar locais de trabalho seguros e sem riscos. A Administra\u00e7\u00e3o de Seguran\u00e7a e Sa\u00fade Ocupacional (\"OSHA\") \u00e9 encarregada de garantir o cumprimento da Lei. A OSHA reconhece que a prote\u00e7\u00e3o dos trabalhadores contra quedas \u00e9 uma prioridade e promulgou regulamentos que exigem prote\u00e7\u00e3o contra quedas.<\/p>\n

De acordo com os regulamentos da OSHA, a prote\u00e7\u00e3o adequada contra quedas \u00e9 geralmente exigida quando se realiza trabalhos a alturas superiores a 1,5 m. A prote\u00e7\u00e3o contra quedas pode ser na forma de arneses e cordas, guarda-corpos e\/ou redes de seguran\u00e7a.
